Our mission
Connecting people and strengthening potential
Uccelli creates an inclusive network that supports education, social exchange, career orientation and personal development. A particular focus is placed on people who have less access to opportunities and supportive networks because of their background or social situation.

2015 — 2021
How encounters grew into a community
The idea began in 2015 around Meierhofplatz in Zurich-Höngg. Conversations, shared interests and a desire for belonging led to the group called ‘Strana Uccelli’.
Over time, this developed into the vision of an open association that connects people, supports potential and creates room for their own projects. The Uccelli Society was officially founded on 16 July 2021.
Uccelli is the Italian word for birds. The name represents freedom, individuality and the belief that different perspectives make a community stronger.

Ato Akrofi
Association President
Ato Akrofi is a co-founder and president of the Uccelli Society. He combines commercial experience with studies in applied psychology and is particularly committed to equal opportunity, empowerment and an open community.
Hatice Aksüt
Head of Project Management
Hatice Aksüt supports the development and coordination of projects and contributes experience from education, hospitality and social work.

Head of IT
Karim Moutiq is a co-founder and is responsible for the association's digital infrastructure and technical development.

What is the Uccelli Society?
Uccelli is a non-profit association based in Zurich. Since its foundation on 16 July 2021, it has been building a network that strengthens people through education, exchange, career orientation and personal development.
Who is Uccelli for?
A particular focus is placed on people with a migration background and those facing social or economic disadvantage. In principle, everyone who shares our values and projects is welcome.
Do I have to be a member to participate?
No. Many projects and services are also open to non-members. On the Join page, you can tell us how you would like to participate.
How much does membership cost?
Regular membership is free. Those who would also like to support the association financially can become a patron or make a voluntary donation.
How can I propose a project?
Choose volunteering or project participation on the Join page and describe your idea. The team will review together whether and how it fits the association's goals.
Where can I find current events?
We publish short-notice event announcements and impressions on Instagram. Official updates, project progress and recaps are available in the website's News section.
What is Uccelli's position on discrimination?
Uccelli has a clear anti-discrimination stance. People of all nationalities, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religions and social backgrounds are welcome.
How can I support the association?
